Capua BioServices has dedicated manufacturing areas for pharmaceutical products. The site operates under cGMP and is FDA approved since 1970. We are annually audited by FDA or AIFA (EMA).
NON-PHARMACEUTICAL SERVICESFood-grade Manufacturing
Capua BioServices has dedicated manufacturing areas for technical (incl ATEX) and food-grade products. We are GFSI (FSSC 22.000) and ISO 14001 certified and can manage kosher (OU), halal (HFFIA) and allergen free quality requirements.

We offer dedicated solutions for proteins, specialty small molecules and microorganisms focused on applications in pharma and food, for clients in Europe as well as United States.
We are the largest, independent, beta-lactam free microbial contract manufacturing facility located in Europe, with a total fermentation capacity of about 1400 m3. Our company is headquartered in Capua, nearby Naples (South of Italy) with approximately 230 highly skilled employees.
Over the past 60 years, we have built our track record based on our extensive experience in working with a variety of bacterial, yeast and fungal processes from lab (2L, 15L) to pilot (15L, 3 m3) to commercial scale (from 3 m3 to 35 m3 up to 100m3). At Capua BioServuces, the key to joint success is based on people, dedication and expertise.

Our background>60 years of experience
Capua BioServices is located at the ancient "Via Appia" in Capua, a city in the province of Caserta, that belongs to the Campania region in south of Italy.
Construction of the site area dates back to the 1920's with activities in paper and pulp, under the ownership of Celdit. Thereafter the focus shifted to manufacturing for pharma and food industry.
In July 2015, Capua was spun-out of DSM/Patheon due to strategic drivers. This was the start of what nowadays is known as Capua BioServices.

Capua BioServices has more than 60 years of experience in delivering fermentation based products for pharma and food. We have proven process development and scale-up know-how for a variety of bacterial, yeast and fungal processes. The average company seniority of our employees is over 15 years. The company management team consists of highly skilled experts with an average industry experience of more than 10 years.
Capacity & Capability
We are the largest, beta-lactam free manufacturing site in Europe with 1400 m3 fermentation capacity and 200.000 m2 site area. Our site includes a.o. QC laboratory, pilot laboratory, pilot plant, 2 main fermentation plants (28 fermenters in total), 8 down-stream processing plants, spray-drying facility, waste-water treatment, warehouse and utility park. We have the capability to run multiple projects in parallel: from lab to pilot to commercial scale.

Capua BioServices is a multi-purpose facility, offering custom microbial process development and manufacturing services, including spray-drying services.
We focus on servicing emerging up to multinational clients who are active in pharma, food and biotech industry and ideally located in Europe or US.
Our facility operates under cGMP, Food and ISO standards. Our teams operate on a 24-hour, 7-days/week schedule throughout the year.

Elise Mous joined Capua BioServices in September 2015 as Director Sales & Marketing / Business Development. She has over 12 years of industry experience starting from Research & Development, to Business Development and Key Account Management. She is experienced in international business in the field of custom research and custom manufacturing services within Life Sciences and chemical industry. Elise is a Dutch national and holds a MSc degree in Managerial Sciences next to a BSc degree in Chemistry/Biotechnology.
